Americans overuse the words cool and awesome, and Ive decided that they will no longer be a part of my vocabulary.
Example-Road to Honduras 6 am last Sat:
...and where are you from?
The United States and you?
Holland.
Oh wow, that is so cool.
Cool? How would you know? You have never been there.
I never knew at 6 in the morning people could be so lively. I don't think half of them spoke English, but ironically a bus full of people from across the world sure knew how to make a chorus of laughter. Especially that Isreali student, Maton, with curly hair, blue eyes, Adidas shoes, aviator glasses, and soccer calves. For the remaining 2 hours we fought back and forth about every topic possible. I dont know if were left friends or enemies, but whatever you want to call it, I'm pretty sure he gave me his email address and I'm pretty sure he said he couldnt wait to be in Utah next winter snowboarding with me. (Plus, the sarcastic blonde dutch boy wasnt so bad himself and his email sits in my wallet).
